когда мне было около года, я уже умела садиться на горшок, ходила и чего-то бормотала себе под нос. в школе все хватались за голову оттого, что я вела себя как взрослая. я задавала взрослые вопросы и хотела взрослых ответов

налоговую декларацию я решилась показать отцу лишь тогда, когда стала зарабатывать больше ста тысяч долларов в год. до этого родители ничего не знали о том, например, что в Нью-Йорке мне приходилось зарабатывать на проезд работой в каких-то грязных притонах, лишь бы добраться до своей крохотной комнатушки на пятом этаже, в доме за булочной. Черчилль сказал однажды: «если проходишь через ад, не останавливайся», - и не подумаю!
